Girl’s Wrestling: Pinning Down Respect

Experience the thrill of the mat as Downingtown West showcased their prowess at the Hawkeye Holiday Classic Tournament in Hanover last Saturday. In only their second event as a complete squad, the formidable foursome amassed an impressive 88 team points, securing a commendable 7th place among the fierce competition of 25 teams.

Each of our fantastic four wrestlers climbed the podium, with two reaching the finals and two reaching the Consi-finals for 3rd place. Sienna Landrum emerged as the Hawkeye Holiday Classic Champion, dominating with a flawless 4-0 record and securing victory with four impressive pins.

Olivia Amann demonstrated her mettle, earning her spot in the finals with her first-ever pins and wins, ultimately claiming 2nd place with a 2-1 record featuring two pins. Finley Hall navigated the consolation bracket with skill, pinning her way to a well-deserved third-place finish, boasting a 3-1 record with three remarkable pins.

Sarah Pearson showcased resilience, battling through the semifinals and making a triumphant comeback in the consolation bracket to secure 3rd place, finishing with a 3-1 record and two notable pins.

The surge of Women’s Wrestling is undeniable, and our remarkable girls are making their mark on the mat.

Don’t miss the excitement as they face the Coatesville Girls in their inaugural inner-league dual at Downingtown West High School on January 3rd. Witness the strength, skill, and determination of our outstanding wrestlers as they continue to shine in the world of women’s wrestling.
